Admission control

Admission controls prevent unauthorised persons from entering the premises at an event or a closed society. This ensures that only invited guests or guests who have purchased a ticket or admission ticket enter the premises. Admission control also ensures that people are of the appropriate age to enter the discotheque. In Germany, discos can only be entered from the age of 18. In some exceptional cases, entry is only possible at the age of 16. Admission controls at discos are usually for the operator's own protection, as underage persons in the club can have enormous consequences. Admission checks do not necessarily have to be carried out by public officials. During an admission check, it is also checked whether the person is carrying objects that could harm the general public, such as firearms, knives or sharp objects. In football stadiums, attention is also paid to pyrotechnics during admission checks. A thorough pat-down of visitors is necessary here in order to find hidden objects or weapons.

Admission checks by security service

Admission controls are usually carried out by a Security service within the framework of the Event security carried out. In the rarest of cases, the organiser or operator takes charge of admission with their own staff. Security personnel who regulate admission to an event are also known as „bouncers“ in normal parlance.

Admission control by Paffen Sicherheit Not just anyone can be a doorman: In order to carry out this activity in the security service, you need the expertise according to §34a of the trade regulations. This is a type of training, followed by a written and oral examination. Only after you have passed this training at the IHK are you authorised to work as a doorman in Germany. Security service providers who employ unqualified personnel as bouncers are committing an offence against the trade regulations and will be punished with a heavy fine. In cases of hardship, a trade licence may even be issued. However, someone who is not employed by a security service but works directly for the operator may carry out admission checks. The reason for this is that they are not engaged in the security business as an in-house employee. They are therefore not protecting the lives or property of third parties on a commercial basis. When working as a bouncer at large events with protected access, the employee must wear a visible sign bearing the name of the employee or an identification number and the name of the operator.

Nothing works without admission control

Safe and reliable admission checks can only be carried out by experienced security staff. The necessary knowledge of human nature is required at the start of the check. An experienced security employee must be able to recognise at first glance whether the person is drunk or under the influence of intoxicating drugs. Is it a hooligan who wants to set off pyrotechnics in the stadium and is intent on aggression? Could the person be carrying weapons or other prohibited items? Is the person alone or in a group? Particular care must be taken with groups. The security staff must always react calmly and sort out visitors who are in breach of the law as part of the admission control.
